Rigging Workshops
Rigging Basics 1.0
Rigging and safety in aerial arts
In this 2-day intensive workshop, Annika Hemmerling and Tomasz Bajsarowicz teach the technical rigging skills that are important for a successful career in the professional field. Theoretical know-how is combined with practical application.
The workshop can be held in German and English and will last two days
In this workshop, Annika Hemmerling, aerialist and circus artist, and Tomasz Bajsarowicz, experienced construction engineer and rigger at Cirque du Soleil, will focus on the safe use of rigging in aerial arts.
Theoretical and practical content:
Understanding the different effects of forces on the structure and the artist
The most important knots and material knowledge
Introduction to pulley blocks
Imparting knowledge to formulate a technical rider correctly
This makes it possible to communicate and ensure the rigging requirements and other technical needs to your venue in advance. The aim is to impart skills for the professional field of work. Participants will be able to work safely and effectively with rigging, which in addition to safety also opens up more opportunities for a greater variety of performances.
Rigging 2.0-
Creative, performative and experimental applications of rigging techniques
Rigging 2.0 – Advanced is aimed at participants with a solid basic knowledge of rigging (e.g. the Rigging 1.0 – Basic workshop) or experience in choreography, directing and dramaturgy. The aim of the workshop is to understand rigging not only as a technical but also as an artistic tool: How can the mechanics of rigging be used dramaturgically, choreographically and visually to open up new performative possibilities in aerial artistry?
This workshop explores advanced rigging systems – including self-counter-weight, classic counter-weight techniques as well as dynamic suspensions and moving points. The focus is on safe experimentation: What is possible, what makes sense, and how do you create a framework that is both creative and responsible?
The workshop combines theory, models and live demonstrations with intensive practical work. Group exercises, creative tasks and collective exchange support the development of your own approaches.
Participants are invited to bring their own ideas, questions and project designs as well as their air props – we will work with your concepts directly in the air.
The workshop can be held in German and English and is aimed at all those who have done the basic course, aerial professionals, as well as professionals from choreography / direction / dramaturgy.
